Apart from the breathtaking views of the lush-green trees and shrubs, the hills, the waterfalls and the Lonavla Chikki, there is a lot more to see at this mystifying hill station. Tourists can visit Khandala as well, which is a neighboring hill-station. The Karla, Bhaja and Bhedsa caves are a must-visit for those wanting to soak in medieval splendor. There are a few hill station points that offer a tremendous view, some of them being Rajmachi Point, Tiger Point, Lion Point, Duke's Nose and Shooting Point. Bollywood films have used the picturesque backdrop of Lonavla which is blessed with waterfalls, lakes and greenery. The name 'Lonavla' is derived from 'Len' and 'Avali' that roughly translates to 'the resting place of stones'. This scenic hill station was initially a part of the Yadava dynasty. Later, the Mughals used this beautiful hill-station as a strategic location against their rivals. In 1871, Lonavala and the sister hill-station, Khandala, were discovered by Lord Elphinstone. Nearby attractions are Lohgarh fort, Lion Point, Tiger Point and the Duke's Nose.

Detailed Itinerary

 
Day 1: Mumbai - Lonavala sightseeing (90 Km - 03 Hrs)

Early morning, pick up from Mumbai hotel (booked on own) and drive to Lonavala. Lonavala is around 90 km away from Mumbai and takes 3 hours to reach up this beautiful hill resort. Enroute visit Karla and Bhaja Caves, these are Indian Buddhist rock-cut cave shrines being maintained and protected under Archaeological Survey of India.

Bhaja Caves: Bhaja Caves, also an identical in architectural style are a group of rock-cut caves built in 200 BC. These groups of rock-cut caves are near to Karla Caves. Visiting these caves is worth spending some time en-route to Lonavala. 

Later drive to Lonavala, on arrival visit the attraction.

Lonavala is a beautiful hill station situated 90 km away from Mumbai on the Mumbai. One can also visit Lonavala Lake and Bhusi Lake on day trip to Lonavala

After the sightseeing, drive back to Mumbai & transfer to your hotel. (Booked on own)
